'd heat is on

Last Saturday night, I was out…again…Sinusulit lang po ang bakasyon…We were at Pacific Harbor for the first time, at least for me.

Earlier that night, while at work, my friend Kitty (a friend from high school) called me and said that our friend Jemar (a friend from elementary) is depressed and wanna go out…so I said “sure! masaya kwentuhan nyan pag may depressed hehehe”…So we went out, dinner, had a few drink, chika-chika, listen to i-forgot-the-name-of-the-band’s songs, then suddenly a loud siren interrupted. I said “baka may V.I.P. mag checheck-in sa Apo View kaya daming escort.” My friend disagreed and said “anong VIP, may sunog ata!” So I tilted my head just enough to see what’s goin’ on outside, while some were already standing to get a better view. And indeed! Sunog nga talaga!

Apo View Hotel was on fire!!! Literally!...It was sooo reality tv. Black smoke comin’ out of the building, then a little later, the fire got bigger and bigger. Fire trucks of different colors keep comin’. Firemen of different uniforms were running from different directions climbing here and there. Policemen were surrounding the streets. Some of the bystanders, were shouting and some, I think were cheering. Some maybe got a text message or a call from a friend and decided to witness what was goin’ on kaya biglang dumami ang tao and kotse na dumadaan. It was so channel 37! Then just minutes after, we saw the media men with their cams. Ma-aksyon talaga! Shet!

That night was so worth it!

mmm..ahhh..mmm..ahhh

Today is Holy Thursday.

Establishments are starting to close, employees are having their vacation, except for hospital employees [glad I’m a student again hehe]…This is the best time to just stay in the house or any place where you could stop…look…and listen…simply put…meditate…

Meditation for me before is just an activity done by some yoga master or for us ordinary people during recollection, retreat or during prayer but according to one of my teacher-slash-doctor it can be done by anybody, any time of the day. I’ve also read an article in Times magazine about this and it talks about how is it done, how does people benefit from this, why is it beneficial etc etc etc…It’s believable! Although I already forgot most of its contents hehe…but what I can’t forget is our daily dose of Dr. Herrera’s favorite discussion…Meditation.

As far as I can remember, Doc said that when we meditate, our brain changes from beta to alpha waves and when that happens, our mind gets connected with the cosmic world. We now know how to get in tune with everything that surrounds us. Another benefit is that it also thickens our brain’s gray matter. Gray matter is the portion of our brain where our nerve cells are located, so when this part thickens, we could actually be smarter. Yes, ma’am/sir, there’s still hope for us hehehe. Good-bye Gingko Biloba. In a way, we would be more logical too. Hence, when faced with a problem, we no longer need experts to solve it. All we have to do now is to meditate. Meditation also increases melatonin which is a natural anti-oxidant.

Anti-oxidants, are pretty famous these days, especially now that people are getting…uhmm, how shall I put it? Vain?..can’t think of a better term hehe…Anti-oxidant, is an ANTI-AGING chemical. Now that explains its fame. This chemical works by getting rid of free radicals which increases with age, preservatives, pollution etc, etc, etc…Free radicals injures cells and when they do, aging takes place, so to prevent this, they should be eliminated. Good thing, God created a miracle in the form of an anti-oxidant. This anti-oxidant, I’m talking about can be found in green teas, vegetables, fruits and the like, but there’s a recent study that you don’t have to buy these stuff to get that anti-oxidant to have that youthful, vibrant image! Again, all you have to do is…meditate.

Doc also said that you don’t have to enroll yoga or to read books about meditation but if you really wanna be some sort of a professional about this, then what are you waiting for? go enroll, read or whatever you can’t think of or you could also surf this on
www.pubmed.com then type meditation in the search box. But for lazy! este got-so-many-things-to-do people like me don’t lose hope, Doc said that for starters, we could just simply close our eyes, stop thinking of whatever things then just listen to our breathing….inhale…exhale…inhale…exhale… Even for just 5 minutes before and after we sleep.

If you don’t believe this, better do `coz this teacher-slash-doctor who always promotes meditation as the answer to almost all problems looks to me as though she’s in her 40’s, but to my surprise! She’s already in her 60’s!...Laban ka? So this meditation thing probably is effective…Just 5 minutes. It won’t hurt.

Inhale…Exhale…Inhale…Exhale…
